Destiny: From the Hypnotherapist's Perspective

Fate and destiny are concepts that have existed across many cultures throughout human history. With modern knowledge, it might be easier to dismiss the concept of destiny. However, I’d like to suggest that there is wisdom in it. So, let’s see if we can reengage with the concept of one’s destiny with a modern understanding. And maybe we can tap into its benefits and create a better life for ourselves.
This article is about destiny, in particular from the hypnotherapist’s perspective. For therapy, mental health, and a more meaningful life.
In many ways, we can see a type of destiny written into the fabric of existence. There could be any number of reasons for this, from determinism, action and reaction, a divine plan, or in our human nature, etc. We can also see pre-existing rules within nature, e.g. our instincts, intuition, or many other psychological drives, etc.
In short, cause and effect appear in every facet of reality. This means that ‘events and things’ were put into place well before any of us were born. A series of incalculable causes and effects have led you to where you are. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the state of everything or potentially most things. However, we are always responsible for ourselves and the choices we make in any given moment.
So, ‘destiny’ is a broad term, and you can engage with it in any way you prefer. I’m not here to convince you of any particular ideology or belief, I’d prefer each person to engage with it in their own way.
Destiny from the hypnotherapist’s perspective is a concept for those who desire more from themselves, their lives, and reach their higher potential.
To achieve this, you can embrace the idea that you do in fact have a destiny and that you should actively engage with it and pursue it, wholeheartedly and in good faith. You must lean into it. You must take control of your life, or otherwise risk something or someone else taking control of it. If you do not embrace your destiny, you risk becoming the victim of someone else’s.
But to achieve your destiny is not without its obstacles. Life will put roadblocks between you and your goals. However, this is simply a test to see how much you really want it. In this way, you could see destiny is like an active force that will test you to see of you are worthy of the things you claim to want. So, make yourself worthy, keep going, prove that you are worthy of reaching your potential, and deserving of this positive destiny.
No one can tell you what your destiny or potential is. It is for you to figure out, to align with it, and trust the process. You will need to lean into it long term.
Also, even though it is your destiny, you need to know that it doesn’t follow your timeline. For example, one person might be able to build a successful business within a year, yet for another person it might take several, or even a decade or more. So, embrace your destiny, see it as providence, but understand that you don’t control its timeframe.
My own take on destiny is that you have a true nature to yourself, to fulfil your destiny, I recommend finding your true nature, to discover your true self. Realise that this is what you’re here for; it is your purpose.
I truly believe that finding your nature and your true self is one of the meanings of life. (But don’t worry, this is a full topic for another article.)
In conclusion, destiny is a choice, if you don’t engage with it, then it will not happen. Also, destiny is not the outcome or so-called finish line, but rather a process to become involved in, a way of life. It is something we can start today. Embracing the journey of your destiny through your choices, hourly, daily, week after week, and in doing this, you will find that you’re destined for something far greater.
